You are invited to participate in the Buffalo Creek Clean Water Partnership!
Our Vision is that Buffalo Creek will be a sustainable watershed success story with reduced erosion, improved water quality, thriving wildlife, decreased flooding and the beauty of native vegetation. This will be accomplished through collaborative and inclusive community and agency partnerships.
Our partners include the Lake County Stormwater Management Commission, Lake County Department of Health, Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, all of the municipalities and townships in the watershed, and many others. We have held eight successful stakeholder meetings.
At our most recent stakeholder meeting, Lake County Stormwater Management presented the results of the flood survey which generated 235 responses to date from residents and municipalities. Survey results and steps that can be taken by residents, local governments and stormwater agencies to reduce the frequency and severity of flood damage can be accessed in the "meetings" tab. Click on the red labels in the Virtual Buffalo Creek tab to see videos on other issues.
Our next meeting will be at 7 pm on November 19, 2014, at the Kildeer Village Hall at 21911 Quentin Road. We will discuss our Green Infrastructure Plan and present a draft of our Community Outreach and Education Plan.
